LTP (T-Ball)

Our Learn to Play program focuses on teaching the basic softball skills to young players in a fun environment.  Each week players participate in drills for the first 30 minutes and then play T-ball for the remaining 30 minutes.  The last 4 weeks of the season will be full T-ball games.

Teams will be limited to 6-8 players to minimize idle time for the young players.  We are aiming for a 2:1 ratio of kids to adults in order to keep the players busy so they do not lose interest.  This can be achieved by the parents being actively involved with their child’s softball experience.  Teams will require 2 coaches and either a minimum of 2 dedicated parent helpers or a scheduled helper rotation among all the parents.  Grandparents or older siblings are more than welcome to get involved too.

Learn to Play plays on Thursdays at 6:00 pm from May 11th to July 27th at Victoria Park in Ayr.  Meet the Coach night is May 4th.

Equipment Requirements: running shoes, batting helmet with NO cage, glove.  Helmets without cages are required to be worn when batting or during batting drills.  Team shirts will be provided.

Trimite (Coach Pitch)

Our Trimite program plays modified softball games where the coaches pitch to the players.  Coaches instruct the players while they are batting and fielding in order to aid their skill development.  More advanced players may be asked to participate with a select team that plays additional games against other centres.

Teams will be limited to 9-11 players to minimize idle time for the young players.  Teams will require 2 coaches and several parent helpers during warm-ups and practices.  Grandparents or older siblings are more than welcome to get involved too.

Trimite plays on Thursdays from May 11th to July 27th.  Warm-up begins at 6:30 pm, game at 7:00 pm in Ayr at Victoria Park (and Piper’s Glen if required).  Practices are on Saturday mornings at 9am May 6th to July 22nd at Victoria Park.  Meet the Coach night is May 4th.

U10 (Atom/Mite)

Our Coed U10 (Atom) Local League program plays modified softball games.  Players pitch to their opponents but there are no walks.  After 3 balls, the coach of the batting team will finish the strike count to their own players.  This enables the pitchers to develop while allowing batters and fielders the maximum experience in those positions.

The U10 Local League plays on Tuesdays from May 10th to July 26th.  Warm-up begins at 6:30 pm, game begins at 7:00 pm.  The league consists of teams from Ayr and Paris and may be expanded to include other nearby centres.  Games are played in all participating centres.  Practices are on Saturday mornings May 7th to July 23rd at Victoria Park, time TBD.  Meet the coach night is May 3rd.
