2016 AMSA Award Winners
Submitted By Ken Sherk on Fri 07 29, 16
We want to congratulate and thank our 2016 AMSA award winners!
Each person has made a significant contribution to the continued success and growth of the program.

Volunteer of the Year is Kathy Wood.
Kathy was our sponsor coordinator this year and also stepped up (along with Cindy Ritchie) to be our LTP/Trimite co-ordinators. We greatly appreciate the time and effort that Kathy has brought to these roles to help our association continue to grow.

Umpire of the Year is Sam Armas.
Sam has come through our Jr. Umpire program and has brought his performance up to the next level. He has always been dependable, helpful and consistent in his efforts as he has officiated at every level of play in our association.

Coach of the Year
is Rick Downie.
Rick is a great coach for our U14 Local League team who was able to bring a group of kids at different ages, skills and experience all together and have fun while learning the game. His players always had smiles while at the same time pushing themselves to new limits with their softball skills. Rick's preparation and positive approach has kept kids in the sport and attracted new ones as well.

We also want to mention a couple other finalists nominated for coach of the year. All of our U10LL coaches were nominated but in particular Chris Dietrich has been a great addition to the U10LL program and provided a fun learning experience for his team. His engagement with the association and ideas for improvements will only help make us better moving forward.  Finally, we would like to recognize Carolyn Redfern who has coached a group of girls from U14 up to U18 and taught them how to play and compete. These young women will be playing for an ORSA championship next week so watch for announcements on game times to come out and support this group.
