9U Girls Are South Oxford League Finalists !!
The Ayr Flamingos 9U Team competed in their season ending South Oxford Playoff tournament this past weekend in Innerkip and finished in 2nd Place.

Their tournament began with a rollercoaster game against Sweaburg. Twice, what seemed to be walk-off runs were called back, leaving players and parents stunned. But the Flamingos weren’t rattled. In extra innings, they clawed back from a one-run deficit with a clutch double and smart base running, before sealing the 2-1 win with a decisive hit to the outfield. It was a walk-off that showcased not just talent, but heart.

Next came a strong Innerkip team. Ayr came out swinging, driving in three early runs and holding their lead with calm determination. With two runners in scoring position in the final inning, the Flamingos’ pitcher stayed composed, closing the game with a clean throw to first for a tight 3–2 victory.

Sunday morning brought their first loss, as a strong Paris team stifled the Flamingos’ offense with exceptional defensive play. Despite great efforts, runs were hard to come by for a 10-1 loss.

Refocused and ready, the girls faced Innerkip again in a do-or-die semifinal. They struck early, putting up five runs in the second inning. Their ace pitcher took over from there, delivering two strikeouts in the final frame to send the Flamingos back to the championship game with a 5-0 win.

In the final rematch with Paris, Ayr came out with energy, including a highlight-worthy double play from shortstop to second. But Paris, undefeated all season, maintained their edge. Despite Ayr’s hustle and sharp plays, the game ended 2-0 with the Flamingos as proud second-place finishers.

Coach Denise expressed her pride in the team, noting, “These girls have developed so much and have a great understanding of baseball.”

The Flamingos ended their season not just with pennants, but with memories, growth, and a reputation as a team to watch.

Congratulations to Players and Coaches on a great season.
